Tortilla care, what's that? Maybe for grocery store tortillas, "care" amounts to bringing them home and plopping them on a shelf where they will stay more or less unchanged for the next 3 months or so...check out the ingredients here for one of the top grocery store brands:

Our tortillas are handmade, authentic, and fresh - made from only 5 ingredients. They don't come chalked full of preservatives and they won’t stay good indefinitely on the countertop. They also don’t taste like cardboard or have that thick, stiff texture.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TORTILLAS
So, when your Tortilla Familia tortillas arrive, you'll need to follow a few simple steps to care for them; we've put together a little tutorial for you here:
1. First thing is first, try one fresh out of the bag. Lay out a towel over your workspace. Then separate each tortilla individually to prepare for storage and to keep them from sticking together.
2. Next, prep two gallon-sized freezer bags. Place the tortillas that won't be used in the next month in the freezer and refrigerate the rest.
3. Finally, when you are ready to use them, defrost tortillas in the fridge or on the counter top. Warm them up in a skillet or microwave and enjoy!
WHY SEPARATE? The tortillas need to be separated to remove any moisture, if you skip this step they will stick together and tear when you try to pull them apart later.
WHY ARE THEY SO THIN? Because that's how they're meant to be! Authentic Sonoran style tortillas are not like the thick, tasteless stodgy tortillas from the grocery. They are thin and full of flavor - but don't worry, they're still strong enough to hold all the fillings you can dream up.
HOW LONG WILL THEY STAY GOOD? In the fridge, about 2 weeks. In the freezer, 3-6 months.

Real food doesn’t sit ready to eat on a shelf for a month without going bad, and neither will our tortillas.
